How to Make Handmade Decorations With Charms

If you are planning to redecorate your little girl's room, why not put a decor that you have made by yourself? Make something that your child would love to have and likewise brings good luck to her. A bead curtain with charms would be the perfect solution.

Bead curtains as handmade decorations are very easy to make. You will only need a pool of string or fishing line and beads. You can incorporate your handmade charms in between for good luck. You have to measure the door and windows to know the length of string and number of beads you will need for the handmade decorations. Bead curtains can also be used anywhere your imagination brings you.

Decide on how the handmade decorations will look like, how close will the strands be to each other, how many handmade charms you will need and how many bead curtains you need. As soon as you have planned and designed your handmade decorations, begin shopping for the supplies you need. Shop also for the materials you need for making handmade charms. For handmade charms you will need paper, pencil, glue, paper towels, food coloring, rice, scissors, bowl and poster board.

As soon as you completed your shopping, begin making your handmade charms. Dye the rice with food coloring. Since it is shamrock then use green food coloring. Soak the rice until the desired color is achieved. Drain and dry the rice using paper towels.

It is followed by tracing a shamrock and cut the pattern. Trace the pattern onto the posterboard and cut each shape as you go. On top of the shamrock, punch a hole. This is where the fishing line will be inserted later on. If the rice has dried up, spread glue on the shamrock and sprinkle the rice over the shamrock until it is all covered-up. Now that you have made your handmade charms head on to your handmade decorations.
Begin with cutting the fishing line to the length that you have measure and add six inches into it. The extra length will be used for tying knots and for hanging purposes.

Take a bead and slip it into the string or fishing line. Tie a knot near the bead and hide it using the bead. More so the knot will help in holding the other beads. Insert your handmade charms in between the beads. As said, let your imagination runs wild. There is no specific instruction to follow thus you are free to do whatever you like for your handmade decorations. Continue inserting the beads and handmade charms until the whole span of fishing line is filled. Then, tie a knot at the end to secure all the beads and handmade charms in places. Repeat the steps until you make enough strands to the width of the bead curtain.
